News on board of Alitalia

Alitalia’s fleet renewal process is already ongoing since 2009, when 9 new A320s replaced the MD80s (that are no longer part of the fleet) and joined the 26 A320 aircrafts already in operation. The fleet renewal plan forsees the arrival of 55 more A320 aircrafts until 2013.

The new A320s will carry the logo “Environmentally Friendly” and will count on the most advanced international standards, will be equipped with the latest technology, efficient engines projected to reduce noise and optimize fuel consumption, besides being leaders of their category also in terms of comfort and design. All seats are lined with leather and equipped with individual LCD screens which will offer personalized on board entertainment. Seats are ergonomically designed to maximize comfort and increase space between passengers.

Always in search of service improvement, Alitalia is also replacing all the seats of the other 48 Airbus aircrafts, so that all of them will have the same pattern. 80% of the short and medium haul aircrafts are going to be equipped with the latest and most comfortable seats in 2010.

The Magnifica class on board service was renewed: new catering with regional menus signed by Italian chefs, Italian wines selected by the Italian Association of Sommeliers, blankets and pillows by Frette, tableware and glasses by Richard Ginori, plus a totally feminin amenity kit.
